KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia--The Malaysian Government conferred its second highest honor, Tan Sri, on Evergreen Group Chairman Dr. Yung-fa Chang in recognition of his "invaluable contributions in economics and cooperation between Malaysia and Taiwan." Dr. Chang is the first Taiwanese citizen to receive this award since it began in 1958.
The award was presented on February 6, 2007 by the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Yang di-pertuan Agong XIII Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, at a ceremony in the Balairong Seri of the Royal Palace in Kuala Lumpur.
The award, Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota(PSM) - also called Tan Sri - is the second high honor conferred on Dr. Chang by Malaysia. In 2000, he was given he title of DMPN(Datuk) in honor of being one of the country's "partners in progress."
